Amazing Race Map

I am sure most of us have seen or heard about Amazing Race coming to Kuwait. I have just seen it and it is pretty entertaining to watch in terms of the competion and drama going on and it is sight seeing in Kuwait. Some of the locations I could easily pick out some other I had a general idea where they were but not exactly.

Luckily Jaunted has created a Google Map with the locations and some pictures from the episode. Once you see it in the map and imagine some of those people who got lost and were really driving around in circles! They drove all around Kuwait.

This trip is a vacation of sorts to get a change of scenery and relax and I can’t sleep. It is odd. I am in a good bed, cure went to bed reasonably late last night and I was up at 7 with around 4-5 hours of sleep and this is after spending all day out and about starting from 8:30.

I guess there is that feeling of just comfort and really I can’t explain how relaxing it feels to be here, yet you also have this urge to go visit and explore around Bahrain. It really is a great country the little corner we been seeing and experiencing. Stallion and I both agree that it is so much better than Dubai. There is this sense of expansion and development but it feels natural, you can see it and feel it even with the people here. They just seem more comfortable in their own city compared to the feeling of Dubai’s hustle and bustle.

Mahmood was great enough to take us on a tour of Bahrain yesterday giving us and showing us a more personal view of Bahrain. Took us to the BIC which is an amazing place, I really didnt expect it to be that big or that well designed. I always saw snippets and more personal pictures, but being there is really a sight to see. I can’t wait to go there again and race.

Yes, race. I got to see the Caterham (the H is silent) here in Bahrain and meet with the owner who was a friend of Mahmood and and get in the car and learn more about its history and the racing team they have in Bahrain. They have races with Caterham in Bahrain and its a long fun tournament and really plan to attend and get my way around the track. I figure this way I can get a feel for the car before I get it and really understand it.

Oh the tiredness, resuscitator we arrived home around 10 last night. It was a much easier drive back cause the Saudi borders wasn’t as crowded as the way there. That is what is the kiler on these road trips waiting at the border for you turn in line and then its the customs check.

Like Bahrain, the guy was asking me if I had any knives or daggers with me, and was quesitoning why we had cameras and tripod with us. I explained to him we are “tourists” we are visiting and going to take pictures and such. Yet that question about knives and daggers really put me off.

Then you have Saudi where its just a mess. You got 4 lanes of cars coming from passport control going to this one line for customs check and thats where the mess happens. You wait and wait for your turn and then get stuck behind a car that will take forever.

Kuwait on the other hand is a dream. It took us 5 minutes to do passports and customs! It was great. It is the icing in the cake after that long drive and getting that service!

This morning I woke up like ussualy at 7am feeling totally fine in my brain and upper body, then my legs protested. They were in throbbing pain and weren’t ready to move. After 4+ hours of driving I know how those cosmonauts felt when they return from long trips around the Earth away from gravity.

The trip was great, I have a post in draft from yesterday about some stuff, will post more about the trip and the Bahrain bloggers oon.

I been having this crazy craving for black coffee even since I been back from Bahrain. It is really strange. It really been bothering my brain and functions. It started on Saturday morning with just a little tinge when I saw the coffee pot at home. I was thinking “oh I’ll take a thermos cup of it with me so I can drink on the way to work”. Then of course I totally forgot with the push and rush to get to work and decided to brew me a pot when I get to work, prescription and of course work takes over and I totally forget. Which led me to feel really angst and really out of it.

Then Sunday it started the same thing with me totally forgetting to get a cup when leaving to work and not making one at work, but I did go to Coffee Bean and get a mocha latte there, but that really didn’t work. It quieted the urge a bit, but didn’t quiet hit it.

This led to an icky headache that lasted most of the day, even with the Casper’s X-Presso Yourself in the afternoon didn’t even get close to that craving, and just made my head ache almost worse.

Even now at 2am I am thinking about it, my mouth is even salivating at the thought of it. I know if I go down to the kitchen and brew me a pot I might as well just shoot myself in the head rather than turn to a zombie tomorrow. Also it isn’t what I want. The more I been thinking about it the more I been wanting a certain type of coffee. It has to be either from the airport Cinnabon with their Seattle Best Coffee, or from Johnny Rockets.

Luckily my schedule tomorrow will have in Salmiya area where I can my coffee fix.

Tiredness sleep.

Tiredness sleep.

What a day; this was a full museum trifecta.

The first one that I went to was the Gezira Art Center: Musuem of Islamic Ceramics.

This was a great musuem that had ceramic art ranging from the Fatimiya/Abasyia period and the all the way till if I recall correctly the Ottoman empire.Really wonderful works you can see the many influnces from Persian and even Chinese art in thse pieces in terms of color and brush styles. There were two peices that caught my eye. One was a regular jug but the Persian writing was in reverse, drugs I pointed it out to the curator and even he was astonished bny it for he never noticed it. The other was more of a pcractical thing, some juges came with artistic war filtering system that would block debris in the water from coming out.

After this musuem it was the Mohammed Mahmood Khalil Musuem. This one is a totally different collection. It is based on Khalil private collection of contempary European art. There was a Van Gogh, Renior, Monet and many others. There was also a large collection of small Chinese boxes and I guess from the few that were opened had some religous or scenic thing.

After a light lunch it was time for the Musuem of Egyptian Modern Art and this was really overwhelming. I really can’t go into explaining or even capturing the stuff that is in here. They were filling the walls with art and it was so many. So many colors, shapes and styles. I was talking to the guy there and he told me there is even more in storage. Such a shame for it is great stuff, but just so much to take in at one sitting.

This is where I got a bit lost. I decided to walk to my hotel. I recalled from the taxi ride that the Marriot hotel, which is a great place to stay in Cairo. Good location, nice rooms (Zamalek Tower) and great facilities in food and others.

So I started walking, and walking and um walking. I asked a couple times and they said it was straight and I knew it was, but they also mentioned it was a long way and boy it was long.

But I enjoyed it I was checking out street signs and taking pictures of them. I was walking on Om Khaltom road and just kept taking pictures of the street sign and the cool or strange part was that each street sign had a differt stytle adn sometimes name for her. Either Mrs Om Khalthom or just Om Khalthom or just Arabic.

This also gave me a chacne to walk in to the Cairo neighborhoods and it is filled with some great life. Really feels just wodnerful walking in the city with the people livin gtheir lives around you.

I kept walking and finalyl think I got whereII needed to be and still felt lost, then I recall this building I took pictures of from my hotel room and it was infront of me and was just across the street. I got back around 8 and was dead tired.

Oh the picture that is attached has a strange story. The Islamic art musuem is located in an old castle/palace built around early 1900s and this watch was located in the upstairs bathroom by the sink where the mirror would be. It was just strange for it to be there and especially at that time.

I have issues with bluetooth headsets. I really do enjoy them when I am in the car or at work for it really great to have your hands free to drive, surgery
and write notes respectively. Yet my main issue with them is I really hate wearing my headset when I am walking around or with people and it is not in use. It feels awkward and also in my opinion rude and ugly. The only options for it is to either use one of those necklace type holders or put it in your pocket, no rx
which makes it cumbersome to remove and well use.

Well I have a solution, a watch type system. Basically you have this bracelet that allows for the bluetooth headset to remain in an area for quick access and some headsets have a screen on them to show you who is calling so you can even get that information from it. One other feature is that it can also function as a watch.

This way you can simply wear it around your wrist as a watch and as soon as you receive a call you just remove it and place it in your ear then when done return it.

Can’t sleep. Not sure why I am awake beyond this time and not even feeling a little bit tired. I drank laban, generic went out for some air, diagnosis adjusted the AC and still cant sleep. I am currently filling this void by starting to watch Project Runway Season 2. I am on Ep 5 and think will stop on this one.

This way you can simply wear it around your wrist as a watch and as soon as you receive a call you just remove it and place it in your ear then when done return it.

I just want to go home and finish the rest of Project Runway that I started. I can’t believe I went through 5 episodes of it in one night. Ofriginally planned to watch it and then just fall asleep but I just got sucked in more and more. I “tried” to fall sleep, vitamin but really it was just me wanting more and more. Luckily one of the guys I was cheering for got kicked out so it was a good reason to just stop and get some sleep.

I am so going to finish the season 2 tonight. Then I can start watching the remainder of season 3 and season 1.

Restless

I was taught to look at the process and not the final product, click see how something is created developed and where ideas are formed into a set process to give the final answer or product.

Yesterday I was given a puzzle, stuff it was a simple one. I had a square with 9 boxes inside, discount rx and the puzzle was that vertically, horizontally, and diagonally all had to equal 15 using only the numbers between 1-9 once.

My method to solve it was concise and methodical, first figure out what numbers shouldn’t be there, then figure out which of the remainder would equal 15. Then the number that was repeated the most would be in the middle.

It took a bit of jotting down but figured it out, I was especially proud of myself on how I solved it and not that I solved it, cause I broke down the problem to its core.

Today I should someone that same puzzle and they found it out a totally different way. In a lot quicker time I might add and even a different solution to the same problem. I was really impressed and amazed and learned something from it. Even thought I do admit at first I was trying to coach them, but then just shut up and let them do their own thing.

So when you see someone doing something differently don’t question the final product, but see the process. They will get to the end eventually and you could learn something different.

Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear was in the US and wrote this great article: buy

00.html”>Arrested just for looking weird. You can just see his facial reactions to this article. He just hates America and Americans.

This part really had me chuckling:

You know the Stig. The all-white racing driver we use on Top Gear. Well, we were filming him walking through the Mojave desert when lo and behold a lorry full of soldiers rocked up and arrested him. He was unusual. He wasn’t fat. He must therefore be a Muslim.

Ah Jeremy, how did Ford ever give you that GT is beyond me.

I really hope they show the video of the Stig getting arrested. I think that will be such a funny moment.

Emir’s Speech

If it wasn’t for the maid always watching KTV2 I swear we would never know about any news in Kuwait. They interrupted regular programing for the speech by the Emir. Basically he said what we have been expecting. Parliament has been dissolved and that voting of the new parliament will occur in June 22nd 29 with the female voters.

It will be a very interesting day.

Just finished watching “My Name Is Earl” staring Jason Lee as Earl. It is a sitcom around Earl, anemia whose life pretty much sucks. Then one day in a hospital bed he sees Carson Daly talk about karma, impotent and decides to fix his life by undoing his 258(?) wrongs.

The show has some great humor, pharm and some great writing. It doesn’t do that old tried “what is the worse that could happen” and does it. It gives you something completely different and entertaining. The cast of characters they got are great and have great chemistry.

So go download it and watch it.
