We got it easy, adiposity
we have satelite and over 100s of channels, pestilence
we
got the internet and access to all sorts of information and boring stuff to keep us entertained. We e
ven have cars to get out of where we are and visit someone else.

So imagine these people who I dont think even had gas lamps. They would sit around and make
shadow puppets for entertainment!

kuwaitmap.jpg Lots of my friends get lost in Kuwait, ask since they are so many way to get to one place as well as the random shortcuts people pick up over their time here. So here is a good street map of Kuwait. I also have a larger scan of it thats 1.5mb if anyone needs it.

Update: Forzaq8 has posted in the comments this amazing website Baladia – Kuwait Electronic Guide, viagra sale which is Kuwait’s Mapquest. It is a bit buggy but it really is amazing. It lists schools, mosques, commercial areas, street names and etc. It even gives you search options and direction and shortest routes between two points. Only problem I have with it is that most of the features only work on IE, but I dont mind running IE for this page!

Update 2: I do not have the larger scanner of the file. I had a computer error and the file was deleted.

Was just talking to my friend who just came from the States and is used to the driving and manners ove
r there and can’t deal with the drivers here. Saying “they all have road rage! we would get stuck in 2
hour traffic and be ok about it”. This got me saying “yeah in the States you have good radio stations
, find telling you where the traffic is, keeping you entertained and laughing and your mind off the traffic
“.

Which is true, there you got choices in terms of music, radio personalities, talk or sports. There is
something for everyone. So when your stuck in traffic or on the road you dont mind, because the DJ jus
t played your favorite song, or made a good joke. or the commentary on last nights game is keeping you
mind away from the traffic. While here in Kuwait you got personalities like Dr. La Bouche AKA DLB.

This is the one thing that I can say is dfferent about Kuwait and the US, the radio. We have the same
or even better roads, same cars, and lets not talk about driving style. Every place you go has horribl
e drivers, this is something also common. Yet the only thing different we have is the radio.

Like I mentioned before I dont listen to 99.7. I found great replacements. But I would much rather listen to another Kuwaiti radio
station that would rival 99.7 and create some changes in their line up. Hopefully with the creation o
f Rai TV in Kuwait, a new private television station. A private radio station may not be that far off.

Well seems the government is ready to start the Bubyan port project. This will be a very big thing in Kuwait and it has been something in Kuwait’s history for long time. The Ottoman’s, the British, pharmacy Iraq, and the US have been persuing this for ages., since it will be a gateway to the Gulf.

This project is going to last over 30 years and be a huge multi-stage construction process. Which is
strange since according to After doing some more searches I found this Arab Times Article on the Bubyan Project and the natural concerns there.

“One of the rare breeds of birds like the Crab Plover has1 , 600pairs breeding on Bubiyan. The next biggest population of these species is about 40 pairs.” He said there are about 18 other species which breed only on Bubiyan Island. These include falcons, flamingos and gulls. “Most of the world’s population of birds breed here making it the most import breeding ground in the whole Western Paleoartic – UK, Central and Western Europe, Turkey and the rest of the Middle East,” Dr Loughland emphasized.

And Bubyan also meets 4 out of the 6 criterias to make it a protected habitat and finding a place that just meet 1 of those criteria is rare.

I hope the government is planning is right and not destroy our natural wildlife.

Does anyone remeber it? It was these two boys who would travel around Europe looking and that sign would be located everywhere. I think it had something to do about a secret society or something.

According to this article: Bahrain, anaemia Kuwait move to boost jobs for nationals

The prime minister challenged reports that find an 11 per cent unemployment rate for Kuwaitis.

“We have no unemployment. The military and the national guard need every unemployed Kuwaiti.”

I dont know, viagra sale but isn’t the checks for the national gaurd and military also paid out by the government?

The article also states that Bahrain and Kuwait are working on improving the economy to stimulate the
job market and reduce the number of public workers being hired and “encouraging” the private sector to
hire them. If they mean the Kuwaitization process then we are screwed.

The Kuwaitization process doesn’t work. It forces companies to hire the lowest common denominator. Som
eone who is willing to get a low pay as long as he doesn’t have to work or show up. Ask any large comp
any and you’ll be sure to see that they have some Kuwaitis that are just listed in the paperwork, neve
r show up, and don’t contribute anything. This is even the problem they are facing in Bahrain.

I dont know how the government plans to do stimulate the job market, but my idea is they should invest
in Kuwaiti companies and encourage Kuwaiti start up companies. Pretty much be a venture capitalist. W
e have lots Kuwaiti with some amazingly smart ideas and dreams and just need some incentive to give t
hem a go a head.

I also dont think they should penalize companies for not hiring Kuwaitis. Instead of going to the gove
rment slush fund, it would go to a privately controlled scholarship fund with no attachments public or
private sector. And What ever the company puts in the government matches. By the company giving this
money: they list the qualifications and majors they are looking for and will hire them once they gradu
ate. This is a win-win situtation, the goverment is hiring high school drop outs, and niether are comp
anies. Both are contributing to the overall level of education in Kuwait, and there is a process where
the newly graduated have access to jobs.

This also means cutting lots of the red tape needed to open a company in Kuwait and any government tra
nsactions that occur. This will reduce costs for companies and encourage them to grow.

I am in Spain, pathopsychology
lived here without internet for a week, troche
in Madrid currently. Seems like my past visit h
ere I am only allowed to be here under 24 hours. It has been a good business trip learned a lot, generic and m
et some really great people. Have now connections up and down south america! Cant wait to go there and
hang out with those guys again. Seems when ever I am in these things I always hang out with the south
americans and they always get in me into trouble.

I need to learn Spanish it really is tough here not knowing spanish. Everytime they talk to me, or I w
ant to tlak to them I revert to either french or italian, luckily I haven´t started talking german to
them. Then I´d really get into trouble.

The place we were staying at was a monestary that was redone and redecorated to be a hotel. It was jus
t amazing seeing the old with the new we were all highly impressed. It took me a while to figure out w
hat made it so catching andtogether. Well the building structure was old stone, and the new stuff was
very minimilistic glass, metal and wood. Which is all natural items so it all just melded together. Th
ere was no plastic. Very smart and worked amazingly. Hopefully I´ll put pics up soon with all my other
ones.

Once I goto madrid and to my hotel (near airport) I change and went straight to the the city and to th
e museum. They didn´t have anything new from last time I was there, but it was a free admission so wen
t in to check it out again, and visit the libary. There I got some more magazines and found this guide
to Spain for us busy people who try to be hip and cool but have no time and worry about work and list
s all these places where you should go, eat, be seen and stuff.

I been sick of my hair lately, just looking at the mirror and going ugh, so this while flipping though
it. I saw a salon that is the best in Madrid and I knew I had to go there. So grabbed a taxi cause if
I took the metro or walked I knew I wouldn´t get there. And glad I did. They were full but someone wa
s a no show so I got squeezed in! As soon as I was going to the seat some girl and wanted to get in. I
was lucky by mere minutes!

So now I get this great haircut, I pretty much told the guy go at it I dont care what you do. So he bu
sted out the shaver and went at it. I´ll leave it a suprise for you guys when I get home.

So in my crazy quest for culture I got my magazines, random cds that these old guys recommened to me

Well I just got back and settling in with life and stuff catching up with the week of work thats been in the office and remeber that I am leaving again on Tuesday to Spain. This will be another 4-5 day trip, rubella also business.

There won’t be driving in this one, medicine just flying. I get to stay a night in Madrid, but would rather spend a day and go see the musuems they have there. Was ther ein teh summer and got to see a Dali exhibition and Picasso’s Gernica. The Gernica was special since I even visited that city just a couple days earlier.

So now I got to get all my work done that I have pending, cross my “i”s and dot my “t”s and all that o
ther stuff. Also trying to remeber who I know in Spain. There is a friend of a friend that I can contact that I can contact in Madrid. It just depends on how much time I have.

Also my parents are now it is saying it is time for a new car. I love my car she has been good to me and I am waiting to push her to 300000km I got to be there for that rollover. It is at 278something now
I am just almost there. I remeber when it did 250000 and that was a great feeling.

The car I would love is “Bo Shaneb” it is just a power horse. For a classier approach the Audi A7. It was orignally a concept called the Pikes Peak but they are saying it is coming out in 2005 as the A7. If thats not possible then has to be the Audi RS6. I have a thing for station wagons and well I need the room for my work and life. The people who seen my car know that I pretty much can live out of it. Then when you add the RS6 engine to that baby, just makes you think lots of happy thoughts.

Looking at it now and thinking on how I will be in Kuwait tomorrow shows how really more developed tha
n the other countries we are. Our roads and cities and population are so ahead of the other countries
in the area. Yet we are behind in terms of free trade and allowing of foriegn investments. But that is
changing. I believe in 20 years the whole Gulf will be in the same level and that each country will h
ave a speciality.

I made it to Qatar. The trip took 7 hours and 41 minutes. It was long and confusing since they are no
signs telling you how far Salwa (Border) is. So I a driving driving seeing signs to Hofuf, medicine
Riyadh, Dam
ma, but no Salawa. I even found the old border crossing that is closed now, but there are these worker
s there that are cleaning the place. It place is closed why do you need to clean it? They told me its
another 70km to Salwa so I sped of on my way there.

The border place on Qatars side is really nice. Its has these old style look for the buildings and the
re was a female who checked my passport! And the people there smiled! It was a nice sight.

Doha is really nice and enjoying my time here. Will leave to Kuwait either today or tomorrow depending
on what I need to get done and the time I have left. The less I avoid driving during the night in Sau
di the better.

Once I get home I will try to catch up with everything and post more about my trip and scan the polaro
id pictures I took. Yes! I use a polaroid! Oh and I got the SE P910! It rocks, there isa slight learni
ng curve, but I am getting used to it.

Really enjoying Qatar, physiotherapist its really relaxed here and just feels cozy, page found out that Khaleeji can own 3
houses in Doha and as much as they want outside the city limits. Wouldn’t minf a house here to relax and get away from Kuwait, and once they build that bridge betwen Bahrain-Qatar it will cut 6 hours from the trip, and they are saying that a bridge between Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Now that will be amazing. For I will be skipping those Saudi roads and make a trip 1/3rd the time if you went through Saudi. Though I am not sure about the humidity here, my glasses fog up, and my clothes stick to me like I jumped in the pool.

I visited Cornell – Qatar, and all I have to say is I want to be a student again. This place is a work of art. It just screams learning and expression. The architecture is just out of this world a mix of Islamic and ergonomic and geometric shapes. The classr
ooms are all high tech and the walls are whiteboard. So you can write everywhere it really feels like a place of learning. Oh! and the coolest thing they have these “pods” which are cluster of iMacs scattered around the building. You can check email, do homework, anything on these things. How cool is that
? What I loved the most was how they controled light there. it is all ambient and deflected or shaded. Gives it this very warm and light feeling. I love natural light so seeing this just gave me lots of ideas on how to control light in houses to avoid using lamps.

Glad I stayed an extra day so I can wander and finish my business. Sadly I am leaving tomorrow. I want to go back to Kuwait dont get me wrong. I just enjoyed my tour around the Gulf and seeing places that are still new and not known like Al-Ain and Doha. Both beutiful places and it is even better meeting
some really old friends and making new ones.

The old friends part is a good one. I was in Al-Ain and talking to the guy with me about my friends in college, and Omani and Emierati and how I lost contact with them and really would love to meet them. So I am at Al-Ain mall checking my email. And this guy comes and say “Salam” and it is my Omani friend that I haven’t seen in 7 years! 7 Years and I was just talking about him 2 hours ago!

We caught up and exchanged numbers and he still keeps in contact with the Emierati who lives in Al-Ain!. It was great meeting them both again catching up on old times and the people we interacted with and our college days.

Life is just weird and amazing like that.

Gives me more incentive to visit Al-Ain and really just stay there than Dubai. It is better weather (dry like Kuwait) cheap rooms, good people, and I got a friend that I can hang out with. The only time I went to Dubai was to go to City Center to visit the book store and look for the P910. I was in/out in 45 minutes. Then to a business meeting. I was glad I didnt have to spend any time there more than I needed to.

So tomorrow I go home. Feels like I have been gone more than a week.

Road Trip!

Of on my road trip today. Going to Bahrain -> UAE -> Qatar -> Kuwait.

Its a business trip first but also going to make some time to visit friends and go sight seeing and ot

Where are the intellectuals?

32 Hours 7

is the true story behind The Cannonball Run
.
I was talking to bozwayed tonight, healthful and we talked about
politics, surgeon life, religion, art, love, friends, family and everything and nothing in between. One thing
that centered around our myriad of topics and stuff was intellectuals.

We were taught different, we went out and explored. We saw life outside our protective bubble. We actu
ally experienced things that gave us the ability to make our own opinions and judgments and have reaso
ns and knowledge behind them. It wasn’t based on what was force fed to us. It was based on what we wer
e taught and learned.

We want to be mind fucked.

We enjoy it love it. To us having someone who makes us think, and just think of things differently is
what we look for. Dont tell us this is the way things are done. We dont adhere to that thought, cause
we know that isn’t true. We know that they are shades of grey, and colors in a rainbow.

And thats the problem in Kuwait, there isn’t anyone to mind fuck us. We come and become drones, follow
steps that make no sense and have no reason or concept behind them besides thats how things are done.

We look around us in Kuwait and see drones. There isn’t a culture that supports the arts, that encoura
ges people to learn, innovate and explore the world around us.

We are censored, held back and tied up.

This is in our schools, our religion, our government and the people around us.

So where are the intellectuals? The ones that stimulate our minds and thoughts in Kuwait. That encoura
ge the people to create and think.

I want to be able to visit art museums, to see movies that are compelling and controversial, I want to
read a book that excites me. I want to be able to say “wow that is fucking amazing”. I want to have s
omeone tell me “you know you have a good point, but let me tell you mine”. I want to.. I want a lot of
things.

I want to be mind fucked.

Didn’t get to go spinning tonight, visit web was tied up with work and stuff, psychiatrist then met a friend to talk about some stuff at the ghawa. So far we agreed all fathers are strange and the same, if they still have 70s mentality and prices they should atleast dress like they still are in the 70s. I have too much time on my hands to think about binary hand counting. Then we got bored of the same old routine he suggested lets go back to his place and watch a movie. So we called up the dvd guy he came by I picked out 3 movies. Manchurian Canidate, The Girl Next Door, and something else.

We went with The Girl Next Door. and its the best movie I have seen in a long time.

Lately there has been these guy chick flick movies. Emotional and very comedic and geared to guys. Graduate meets some National Lampoon and then some music thats popular to fill in for dialouge. The musical compilation for this movie is really amazing.

The story is simple quiet class president senior, is graduating and well wants something else in his life. Enter the girl next door, who takes him out and shows him that he can dare to be different and have a good time and not worry about what everyone else thinks. Then you got the ussual plot twists, clif hangers and lots of comedy and T&A. And you also got Elisha Cuthbert who is just amazing.

I guess I am just a sucker for these movies, especially now. Feel like an emotional void. It comes and goes for me, but just need to find a new drug. Going on a road trip soon, that should be fun and strange and weird and sweaty. The road makes you think weird and strange things. I think its those damn white lines and that endless horizon.

I guess at the end of the day after the sex, drugs and the rock n roll. I just want someone I can talk to.

Ataris is back!. They are going to reissue their old games on PS2 and XBOX, healing
but dont worry for those Nintendo people
they also plan to release a game system called Flashback with joy sticks and have games built in on i

ended. It just kept getting harder and harder. It was like being told there was no Santa Clause….

This is a great article
on how oil comes out ot the Burgan fields in Kuwait to Colonge, unhealthy Germany. Detailing the processin
g and the added cost it generates as as it goes on its 37 day journey.

It even goes to the social poltical situation of Kuwait and what goes in on the stock exchanges and at
the tables of OPEC and corporations in trying to control the changing price of oil.

The end of the article even had a list on where can traces of Burgan oil be found. Out of 330, phlebologist 000 medi
cines only 2 didn’t have Burgan Oil; Asprin and Togal. Makes you think of the power and use ability of
oil in our modern world.

Finally got a haircut, healing
half of the top and 3/4 from the sides. It looks ok decent, drug
the guy gave me a h
ead and back massage afterwards that was a good value added service.

When he was cleaning up my hair he told me that my hair is not using his hands made a C shape, but to
ok both hands clasped them together. Barbers always comment on my hair on how strange it is.
