I never understood the whole big thing about the Oscar, this
it is a cool award show with the glitz and glamour, pestilence
but then people say the Golden Globes are better cause it is more “real” cause it shows how the community of Hollywood really feels. Then you got the people that say those awards in California are just too main stream and that you have to win at Sundance to really have some meaning to your movie; or the Cannes awards where people say it is really international and thats where the real global recognition comes around.
At the end it is one big alphabet soup of award shows and something that you eventually forget about, and cause at the end that award is what you make of it. If you feel Oscars or Cannes are the end all of all movie awards then so be it. Yet, I feel as a regular movie goer seeing to an actor or director in the street and saying “I liked your movie” is better than any award your peers can give you.
Its more than “win at Sundance to really have some meaning to your movie”.. maybe a higher pay-check and recognition
